OPEN SEAT GUIDED EXPLORATION
In the tradition of the Esalen Institute Still Point Wellness offers Open Seat weekly. The practice is based on an explorative game in which one person is guided through what they are feeling in a profoundly eye opening way. The practice is based on the idea of Gestalt therapy and has been part transforming lives for fifty years.
"Gestalt therapy focuses on experiencing thought and beliefs rather than simply discussing these feelings. The process of learning through experimentation provides purpose to Gestalt therapy rather than simply stating feelings, according to gestalt.org. A Gestalt therapist wants the client to experience full awareness of his present situation. Techniques of Gestalt therapy focus primarily on the present day rather than the past. It places the client in the current state of mind." Seymour Carter
Open Seat allows us to focus on what exists here and now. Participants are alerted to the difference between talking about what occurred a few minutes ago, or yesterday, or ten years ago, as opposed to experiencing what is happening right now. We learn to discriminate between ideas and experience, between habitual patterns of thought and new ways of being. Corey helps clients understand the ongoing process of being-in-the-world and how to use their internal and external awareness so they can become self-supportive. Through here-and-now experiments, awareness is enhanced, and clients discover their capacity for self-regulation and self-responsibility. Join us in the Journey.
Every Tuesday at 4:30pm join Corey Costanzo to gently explore sensations. $20 per person - Limit 8 to eight people.
