My husband and I visited Still Point Wellness to get rejuvenated. I wanted to experience the Floatation. Floating in 1500 lbs of Epsom salt is fantastic! Very unique and took just a bit of time to get acclimated to being in a totally dark room floating in the salt water. Initially I had the door slightly ajar and then closed it all the way. TOTAL BLACKNESS! With ear plugs in and my head resting on a small head float, I totally relaxed and dozed off. The float tank is 8'x8'x8' with a foot of salt water - you do move around while floating. The funny part is when the staff knocked on the door to let me know my time was up, I had to feel along the wall to find the door. Luckily the non-door walls are "rough" so finding the door means finding the smooth wall. My husband did the massage and was very pleased with this too. We also spent an hour in The Relaxation Room. We each had a detoxifying sweat in the Far Infrared Sauna and a warm, stress-relieving session on the Migun massage bed. The balls roll along the entire length of your body (on your back) and you can control the level of intensity that fits for you. The day bed gave a respite to let our bodies. We left totally relaxed and spent the rest of the afternoon taking advantage of our Zen feeling.
I consider myself a massage expert, and Corey and Emily provided us with some of the best massages we've had anywhere in the world! The Esalen massage is quite unique and integrated many techniques we hadn't had before. The ambience is very peaceful and conducive to relaxation.
When in Asheville, treat yourself!
My husband and I made a trip to Asheville for our anniversary. After reading other reviews, I made reservations at Still Point for flotation and Esalan treatments. Having never heard of either of these treatments, I was intrigued. This was truly amazing. The float was remarkable for me. I was able to find a very deep state of relaxation. I followed it up with an Esalan massage with Ellis, who is one of the most talented masseuses I’ve ever met. My husband said the same about Ellis. My Massage was more for relaxation, while my husbands was for deep tissue/sports related injuries. Ellis’s massages are unique and customized for the customer. This was an amazing experience. Don’t miss out!
My wife and I took a weekend trip to Asheville to celebrate her birthday. We found this amazing place on trip adviser and it was rated #1... they more than lived up to the hype. It was our first time trying "Esalen massage" and it was so great. Ask for Emily! We can't wait to come back!
Having never float before, I was blown away by just how relaxing the experience really is. The staff is great and do a great job of making you feel comfortable & at ease with the experience. 10/10!
BEST MASSAGE EVER. My best friend and I met in Asheville for a girl’s day away. We have both been under a great deal of stress for various reasons and decided we wanted to get a massage on our trip. We chose Still Point after reading about the Esalen massage technique they use and were also curious to see the salt water chamber in case we wanted to try it sometime. Terrie was my therapist and she was incredible. She was so in tune with what I needed and I didn’t need to tell her (I like silent massages anyway and had indicated that on my check in form). She knew exactly what I needed and I could tell she was trying her best to help me, not just going through the motions like some other massages I’ve had in the past. I left feeling deeply relaxed and satisfied. The Esalen technique was so unique to what I’ve experienced before and I highly recommend it. If I didn’t live two hours away I’d be back to see Terrie monthly at a minimum!
Corey is professional and great at what he does. He follows up to make sure I am satisfied with the bodywork he performs. The center is immaculate, calming, and staffed with caring people. I have found my "happy place" for healing Esalen massage and I couldn't be happier!
The float was an extraordinary experience. I had no idea something like this was available. My daughter, who enjoys the salt floats in Houston, gave me a gift certificate for the float, saying that I really needed to try it out. She was right! Andrew greeted me and showed me around and explained the process. I was a little apprehensive but he put me right at ease. Once I settled into the water, it was truly amazing. I felt like I didn't even have a physical body. It was so peaceful and soothing. The center itself was beautiful and peaceful. The aquarium that I sat and observed after the float was the most beautiful one I have ever seen. Thanks, Andrew, for making my first visit so pleasant. I will be back!
Our first time to Still Point Wellness, however, my husband and I have been to Esalen and had massages. I had Ben and my husband had Emily. WE would have to say, one of the best massages WE have had since Esalen, thank you. This will be a place that we will return to and highly recommend!!
I had the 75 minute Esq Massage with Lisa and she was absolutely wonderful. A head to toe experience like no other. She was gentle and even got the knots out when needed but it did not hurt. She put some smelly stuff on a towel underneath your nose when you had your head laying back and it was like heavenly. She helped you breath too. Also, I had the 90 Minute Salt Floatation which was totally different than anything I have experienced. You go into the Salt Floatation and with all the salt your body actually does float. You float on your back. There is only 17 inches of water and with my big body I thought I would sink but no you float. After I got out my skin was so smooth. The only advice I would give is use the ear plugs that the provide so you don't get salt in your ears. My niece got salt in her ears and it was like it crusted up. Her ears hurt but we used equal solutions of Peroxide and White Vinegar. They do provide a sponge head rest so you don't lay your head completely under in the water. I sit up a little with my legs crossed and put the water on my face and then as the water dried; I rubbed my face as if it was a sponge and when I rinsed it after the shower my face was so soft. You take a shower before you get into the Salt Tank and afterwards. It is actually in a large bathroom with shower and bathroom accessories. They provide Q-tips, towels, and lotion for afterwards. They say you can either wear a bathing suit or go in the nude. There is no lights at all in the Tank; but he said if I wanted to leave the door cracked I could and I did so there was a little bit of light. At least I could see. In between each session you can sit and watch the Salt Water Fish Tank and relax. Andrew got us some Tea and water. You will be given a robe to start out with and you wear it the entire time. The people there were amazing. They make you feel at home when you come in. My Niece had a Massage with Emily and she said she was great too. Will go back on my next trip.
The mind/body exploration package was very therapeutic and truly a wonderful experience. The massage with Ben brought up some areas of stored emotions I hadn't realized were there. And the float in sensory depravation really allowed the massage experience to deepen and opened my inner communication in a very real and clear way. I booked again for the next month before I left!
This was a truly wonderful experience for our family time together during the holidays. We were a party of 5- grandmother mother and three daughters ages 30-22-each of us with varying massage experience (my youngest a massage therapist in training to my 83 year old mother who has had only one massage in her life). We loved the esalen massages we received from Emily, Terry and Lisa. Tanya the receptionist was also very thorough and her orientation to the salt floats were so helpful to making the experience anxiety free for those not sure of what the float entailed. Thank you to all for such a lovely day. We will definitely be back. Namaste!
For my wife's birthday, I took the opportunity for a unique experience, learning to give each other a massage. Our host was friendly and knowledgeable, with us taking a turn on the table while the other learned a basic routine, the classic techniques, and a few pointers. We've had experience with massage before - from videos and books, but having a teacher to work with you hands-on was amazing.
Recently visited StillPoint Wellness and I must say it was an absolutely fantastic experience. Enjoyed an Esalen massage and spent 90 minutes in their state of the art float tank. The facility provides a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere for you to enjoy all the benefits of a float or massage. Further, the staff is wonderful and attentive to any needs. It is clear that management have thought through how to maximize a client's experience, and implemented accordingly.
Relaxed and full of joy - that is how I walk out from a float. LOVE!!!
Amazing and skilled, state of the art equipment and nurturing environment, excellent care and kindness make Still Point an in town retreat! Corey is an excellent Esalen Massage Therapist, and blends many modalities to give relaxing deep healing through his Massage.
What a fantastic experience, love this spa. One of the best spa experiences of my life. The staff was fantastic, the ambiance was perfect and the vibe of the experience was unbeatable. Totally recommend this place.
Wow! I did the sensory deprivation tank and really really loved it! It was a great experience end to end. The check in person made me feel very comfortable and explained everything about the tank. The tank is inside a lovely bathroom, so you have complete privacy getting ready, if you need a break etc. I LOVED THE TANK! I left with a complete feeling of relaxation and happiness. I can't wait to go again!
When one enters the facility, one realizes that this is THE facility for a truly relaxing experience. The ambiance and staff set one at ease immediately. Our massages and flotatation experience were wonderful!! Thank you for being there for us. We'll certainly book appointments again when we return to Asheville.
I did not realize that I was carrying such a painful load which surfaced while receiving an Esalen massage from the deliberate yet caring miracle hands of Terrie. It is amazing to me how connected the mind body spirit is - my heart is now open and free of that burden. This is truly a place for healing - my husband and I will be back!
There's not enough room to tell all the good things about Still Point Wellness. Let me just say that we are graced to have Robin and Corey (the owners) in our city. Both Esalen-trained, they are my wish come true, after having massages at the Esalen Institute itself in Big Sur. Robin has been given an international award for her work; she was an instructor at Esalen, and is now busy teaching this wonderful technique to many in the area (YAY!) While she doesn't practice on the public herself much anymore because of her teaching (BOO!), her husband, Corey, is a miracle in human form.
Their facility is just one of many places where their influence is felt in our community. We are thrilled to have them here.....hoping not TOO many people learn about them to keep us (we?) locals from having access! Asheville is becoming a mecca for the diversity of people from all over the world. Still Point Wellness should be a part of your experience here.
It felt like Lisa was listening to what my body was need and responding as she worked on me. I'll be back for sure.
My husband & I were there yesterday for the Mind/Body Exploration couple's package. It was an incredible experience! The host, Andrew, was friendly & welcoming. Emily, our massage therapist, gave the most relaxing massage I've ever had. This business truly caters to its guests. Serene atmosphere with luxurious touches. Sure wish we lived closer!
Still Point Wellness was so "on target". I did a flotation followed by a massage. As soon as I walked in I felt so welcomed! Tanya did a great job explaining everything to me ahead of time. She answered all my questions and walked me through the whole process and spent as much time as I needed without rushing me. I was so well taken care of. They thought of everything. The flotation was relaxing and insightful. Following the Flotation was an Esalen Massage with Emily. Emily was so conscious and present as she worked with my body. What a gift. I had to ask her to stop 1/2 way through the session because too much trauma was moving through my body. She was so sweet and patient with me and gave me all the time and space I needed. The fish tank sitting area was a great bonus. I sat there for awhile enjoying a cup of tea calming down after moving through some of that stored up trauma. I felt truly well cared for and pampered. I will be back. Thank you!
We had an amazing experience! We chose to have the 90 minute Esalen Massage as a couple. Ben and Lisa were our therapists. It was one of the best massages ever! The technic was different than the usual Swedish massage-we wanted something different. Ben was my therapist and I would definitely get another massage from him! I felt I had a total body and mind healing :-) My hubby had Lisa and said she was exceptional!!! We loved the place and would go back when in the area. It's peaceful, clean and comfortable. We tried to make an appointment for the float tank however they were all booked up so we recommend booking at least 7-10 days in advance even though their online system says different. I think it's always best to call any establishment for making reservations anywhere nowadays.
I've been a bodyworker for 7 years and done a little studying with Robin and Corey. Their spa is intentional in every way. It's the ONLY one like it around. They are both leaders in this work of holistic healing and Asheville is lucky to have them.
I had my first massage with Corey last week and his work is groundbreaking. Truly transformational. My integration was supported by a light conversation after session, and some time by the fish tank with lots of water. I went on my way feeling relaxed and over the course of the next week my body felt as though it came into alignment.
I felt the quiet, healing, intentional atmosphere of Still Point Wellness as soon as I walked into the reception area. I received an Esalen Massage from Ben Survant. Due to his gifts as a massage therapist, ability to energetically connect with the needs of the client's body, and his gift of creating healing space, it was a deeply relaxing and healing massage.
I can wholeheartedly recommend Still Point Wellness. My first visit was a Mother's Day gift from my daughter - a 60 minute float + a 60 minute Esalen massage. Loved it so much I signed up for the membership and have been treating myself to a monthly massage ever since. Looking forward to floating again soon too - I'd never tried it before but had always wanted to. It was wonderful. I highly recommend Terrie for massage and energy work! I always feel both relaxed and energized after a session with her, and like a months worth of "sludge" has been released, leaving all of my energetic pathways open & flowing. My daughter has seen Ben, and my husband has seen Corey (both for the Esalen massage) and recommend them as well.
I have been wanting to try floating for a long time and I'm glad that I did. The staff are warm and inviting. They walk you through the process and help to ease any apprehension you may have. This experience was truly incredible for me and I plan on making this a regular occurrence.
Had a really nice experience with Lisa getting a 75 minute Esalen massage. I enjoyed that the massage was really focused on healing as opposed to some generic spa massages. A very comfortable environment overall, and I would recommend. Beware you have to remove your shoes in the front.
