Amazing and skilled, state of the art equipment and nurturing environment, excellent care and kindness make Still Point an in town retreat! Corey is an excellent Esalen Massage Therapist, and blends many modalities to give relaxing deep healing through his Massage.
Wow! I did the sensory deprivation tank and really really loved it! It was a great experience end to end. The check in person made me feel very comfortable and explained everything about the tank. The tank is inside a lovely bathroom, so you have complete privacy getting ready, if you need a break etc. I LOVED THE TANK! I left with a complete feeling of relaxation and happiness. I can't wait to go again!
When one enters the facility, one realizes that this is THE facility for a truly relaxing experience. The ambiance and staff set one at ease immediately. Our massages and flotatation experience were wonderful!! Thank you for being there for us. We'll certainly book appointments again when we return to Asheville.
I did not realize that I was carrying such a painful load which surfaced while receiving an Esalen massage from the deliberate yet caring miracle hands of Terrie. It is amazing to me how connected the mind body spirit is - my heart is now open and free of that burden. This is truly a place for healing - my husband and I will be back!
There's not enough room to tell all the good things about Still Point Wellness. Let me just say that we are graced to have Robin and Corey (the owners) in our city. Both Esalen-trained, they are my wish come true, after having massages at the Esalen Institute itself in Big Sur. Robin has been given an international award for her work; she was an instructor at Esalen, and is now busy teaching this wonderful technique to many in the area (YAY!) While she doesn't practice on the public herself much anymore because of her teaching (BOO!), her husband, Corey, is a miracle in human form.
Their facility is just one of many places where their influence is felt in our community. We are thrilled to have them here.....hoping not TOO many people learn about them to keep us (we?) locals from having access! Asheville is becoming a mecca for the diversity of people from all over the world. Still Point Wellness should be a part of your experience here.
It felt like Lisa was listening to what my body was need and responding as she worked on me. I'll be back for sure.
My husband & I were there yesterday for the Mind/Body Exploration couple's package. It was an incredible experience! The host, Andrew, was friendly & welcoming. Emily, our massage therapist, gave the most relaxing massage I've ever had. This business truly caters to its guests. Serene atmosphere with luxurious touches. Sure wish we lived closer!
Still Point Wellness was so "on target". I did a flotation followed by a massage. As soon as I walked in I felt so welcomed! Tanya did a great job explaining everything to me ahead of time. She answered all my questions and walked me through the whole process and spent as much time as I needed without rushing me. I was so well taken care of. They thought of everything. The flotation was relaxing and insightful. Following the Flotation was an Esalen Massage with Emily. Emily was so conscious and present as she worked with my body. What a gift. I had to ask her to stop 1/2 way through the session because too much trauma was moving through my body. She was so sweet and patient with me and gave me all the time and space I needed. The fish tank sitting area was a great bonus. I sat there for awhile enjoying a cup of tea calming down after moving through some of that stored up trauma. I felt truly well cared for and pampered. I will be back. Thank you!
We had an amazing experience! We chose to have the 90 minute Esalen Massage as a couple. Ben and Lisa were our therapists. It was one of the best massages ever! The technic was different than the usual Swedish massage-we wanted something different. Ben was my therapist and I would definitely get another massage from him! I felt I had a total body and mind healing :-) My hubby had Lisa and said she was exceptional!!! We loved the place and would go back when in the area. It's peaceful, clean and comfortable. We tried to make an appointment for the float tank however they were all booked up so we recommend booking at least 7-10 days in advance even though their online system says different. I think it's always best to call any establishment for making reservations anywhere nowadays.
I've been a bodyworker for 7 years and done a little studying with Robin and Corey. Their spa is intentional in every way. It's the ONLY one like it around. They are both leaders in this work of holistic healing and Asheville is lucky to have them.
I had my first massage with Corey last week and his work is groundbreaking. Truly transformational. My integration was supported by a light conversation after session, and some time by the fish tank with lots of water. I went on my way feeling relaxed and over the course of the next week my body felt as though it came into alignment.
I felt the quiet, healing, intentional atmosphere of Still Point Wellness as soon as I walked into the reception area. I received an Esalen Massage from Ben Survant. Due to his gifts as a massage therapist, ability to energetically connect with the needs of the client's body, and his gift of creating healing space, it was a deeply relaxing and healing massage.
I can wholeheartedly recommend Still Point Wellness. My first visit was a Mother's Day gift from my daughter - a 60 minute float + a 60 minute Esalen massage. Loved it so much I signed up for the membership and have been treating myself to a monthly massage ever since. Looking forward to floating again soon too - I'd never tried it before but had always wanted to. It was wonderful. I highly recommend Terrie for massage and energy work! I always feel both relaxed and energized after a session with her, and like a months worth of "sludge" has been released, leaving all of my energetic pathways open & flowing. My daughter has seen Ben, and my husband has seen Corey (both for the Esalen massage) and recommend them as well.
I have been wanting to try floating for a long time and I'm glad that I did. The staff are warm and inviting. They walk you through the process and help to ease any apprehension you may have. This experience was truly incredible for me and I plan on making this a regular occurrence.
Had a really nice experience with Lisa getting a 75 minute Esalen massage. I enjoyed that the massage was really focused on healing as opposed to some generic spa massages. A very comfortable environment overall, and I would recommend. Beware you have to remove your shoes in the front.
I went today for my second-ever float experience... it was just as remarkably relaxing and enjoyable as the first time, if not better. The staff are warm and welcoming, the place is beautiful and serene, and the experience of absolute stillness while floating is truly delightful. I remember feeling very nervous before my first time, but you needn't be... they will take very good care of you and help you understand how to go on this journey in a way that feels safe and healing.
SO worth taking the time to do this.
The facility is beautiful and they have created a very calm and relaxing environment. Also, the staff are all very warm and friendly. I do not get massages often and this was my first time having an Esalen Massage. This was, however, definitely the best massage I have ever had. My massage therapist, Ben, was wonderful and really helped me relax and enjoy the experience. I will definitely be back the next time I am in Asheville.
I have never experienced anything like it before. The float tank was absolutely the most relaxing thing I have ever experienced. We live 3 hours away but will be making more trips to Asheville just to float our stress away. After getting out it took me a good 2 hours to feel "normal" again. I did not stay after my session though I wish I had. Still Point Wellness is great, they really put you in the vibe of relaxation the second you walk in. Beautiful experience! Thank you!
It is difficult to put this experience into words. It was incredibly relaxing and surprisingly uplifting. I left feeling at peace, and ready to take on existing challenges in new ways, with a fresh mindset and renewed spirit.
Recently a friend and I were in Asheville for the weekend. Upon arriving to Still Point Wellness we were warmly greeted by staff and a serene environment. One of the first things I noticed were all of the books related to the healing arts. I started to realize this is more than just your run of the mill spa. Quite the contrary it is a safe, warm, spiritual environment. I had an Esalen massage for the first time. I didn't really know what to expect. I have had massages before, but this is on a whole other level. They incorporated breathing, long flowing strokes, pressure points. Ben my therapist was amazing! He was very in tune to my breathing and connected. I went for relaxation, but came away not only relaxed but invigorated. It was very healing for the body and soul. I will make a point to visit Asheville again and this wonderful spa. I hope to try some of their other treatments as well. Thank you Ben and all the staff. It was a great weekend!
I have had many massages over the years, yet nothing like the Esalen style. I typically like the deep tissue massage, with the idea of no pain no gain. I was curious and skeptical reading the description of the Esalen technique on the website. Wow, was I surprised and pleased. The method of long strokes running up and down each side of the body together as all parts are connected (versus back, shoulders, neck, then legs, feet, etc.) was fantastic! The pressure was very effective and penetrating, and I did not even elect the deep tissue version of Esalen as the spa offers. Plus, I believe I actually felt the "energy" of the masseuse. Lisa was amazing! I told Lisa, "You may have ruined every other massage I will ever receive." As I return home to Charlotte, I will be asking at every spa, does any therapist know Esalen?
I get massages regularly and have for 20 years. This Esalen massage was something else. Reading the description of "Swedish strokes", I wasn't interested, preferring deep tissue work. A friend urged me to try it, saying that she felt the same, but (drum roll), IT WAS THE BEST MASSAGE SHE'D EVER HAD. I began to unwind as soon as I walked into the place. Dim lighting, the sound of running water, quiet. Please get the 90 minute massage. You'll be glad you did. After your massage, you are invited to stay for awhile, gazing at the lighted aquarium or resting in a quiet meditation room. in addition to massage, they have a flotation tank, which I may try, after hearing about its benefits. You can bet I'm making this massage a regular part of my trips to Asheville!
After my first visit I knew I was on to something and after my fifth visit I literally threw my cane down on the ground, jumped up and click my heels. Yes, I wasn't in Kansas anymore. With spa owner Corey by my side helping me come up with a plan of action and healing I added yoga to my list of other Eastern healing arts as I continued taking tai chi for arthritis patients and the results were soon beyond my wildest expectations. Not only did my chronic lymphedema disappear, something I was told I would have to live with the rest of my life, but I was soon walking without my cane and feeling a 60% reduction in body pain attributed to RSD. In addition, as I reinforced my subconscious mind with positive suggestions I lost 40 pounds, started sleeping better every night and basically taking my healthy body back from Western medicine's life sentence of pain and escaping from a quality-of-life that could only be classified as dismal. My life transformation is not complete but my journey will continue thanks to the devoted and caring staff of Still Point Wellness who literally gave me back my life.
"I immediately felt cradled. It was powerful to feel my body rise to the surface with no effort at all. Being held with such gentleness was for me a spiritual experience. I could not help but think I was connected to this darkness around me and within me and the light I knew that was beyond the tank. It helped me to transition with my challenges, face my fears, release those things that had entangled me and helped me to embrace the unknown, along with pure love and acceptance of where I am now. I was ready for this!
The water temperature matched my body temperature, so after I rested into it; I felt neither hot nor cold. The medium that filled the space between my body and the water rushed over me like a wave starting at my feet and over my head. My mind shut the door where I could no longer tell that time or space exist. At that moment, It was just me to face whatever was ahead of me. I felt I wasn't alone. I spoke aloud what I wanted for my life, what I wanted to let go of. My voice reverberated in the darkness as I spoke these truths. I listened to my heart beat until I became one with it. Right now, I feel at peace. Everyone has a different experience in the salt water float tank. This is definitely one of those "must do" things in life. I hope you enjoy it too."
"The float chamber was one of the deepest and most therapeutic relaxation experiences I have had in any form of wellness care. The release of tension from all aspects of the body, the slow and steady relaxation of the mind, and then ultimately a tranquil & peaceful weightless meditation were all part of the experience. I recommend to anyone who lives an active lifestyle, is seeking methods for deeper relaxation and calmness, is interested in inner spiritual exploration, or is simply hoping to detox and rest in a deeply restful environment." - Ehren Cruz, Musical Director ~ LEAF
"I have never up to this point experienced a massage that had both profound relaxation and a deeply moving personal experience in one package. This truly is a place where mind-body connection is practiced. I had a 75 minute Esalen massage with Corey, and would give more than 5 stars for the experience if I could." - Trip Advisor Review
"I usually get some sort of massage every month for tightness in my neck and shoulders from too much computer usage. This week I took an overnight trip to Asheville and had the 75 minute Esalen massage with Ben. The visit started with light touches and progressed to deep tissue therapy. I left in a deep state of relaxation - just what the doctor ordered!" - Trip Advisor Review
"This was our second visit to your spa and we were just as delighted as after our first visit. Thank you so much for accommodating our same day request for massage appointments for my husband and I. It was a great way to relax during our 30th anniversary celebration in Asheville. Ben did an awesome job - easily the BEST massage I've ever had! We look forward to returning to Stillpoint." - Randy and Gail Loeb
"I received a gift certificate for 1.5hr salt water floatation therapy and it was very easily one of the best gifts I have received! I found my self floating in a completely relaxed state and when I was done I felt energized like I had slept for a week! The staff were excellent! They make you feel like you are in your living room on a secret island! After the float you are invited to hang out in the library or enjoy the lounge area around the fish tank and are offered tea and water! You never made to feel rushed in any way! One visit felt like a vacation!!!" -Zin Vitro
I can not say enough good things about my experience at Stillpoint. Every detail contributed to one of the most profound healing experiences I've had. It began with a very sweet welcome and a cup of Jasmine green tea. The massage was fluid, therapeutic, and blissful. Upon arrival I was hardly able to walk due to three vertebra not articulating. My range of movement when I left was more than double! My physical body was releasing tension while my emotional body went through it's own process. I was able to access unconscious patterns due to the safe and nurturing space being held.
After my massage I integrated by the beautiful and serene fish tank. I then floated for some unknown amount of time. My previously achy body was weightless and pain free. My mind dropped even deeper into serenity. I felt like I was laying on a cloud. My pain is drastically reduced. I can sit comfortably for the first time in days. I used to work in spas but can assure anyone reading this you won't find an experience like this anywhere else. Courtney F., Asheville, NC
"What an amazing experience! My Esalen massage with Ben was incredibly nurturing and relaxing. Ashley who works at the front desk was so kind and attentive. The float was so magical and healing. This is a slice of heaven. I felt so rejuvenated after my time here. I love sitting on the sofa and watch the beautiful fish tank while integrating my experience. Thank you so much for creating such a loving and healing place." - Jovinna C., Berkshire, MA
