Esalen® Massage:
Core Connection (24 CE)
specialized Esalen Massage
Intensive for the abdomen and PSOAS
This massage intensive will focus on the abdominal and pelvic regions of the body, addressing both energetic and structural dynamics that are a common source of low back pain and injury. Often the abdomen is treated superficially, when in fact it is our center, our core, the place of digestion and assimilation of all life experiences. The pelvic region is the "cradle," the bridge between the upper body and the legs. The iliopsoas, considered the "fight/flight" muscles, span this bridge and tighten in response to perceived threat or activity.
This workshop will investigate how unresolved stress, tension, and trauma impact the nervous system and establish a pattern of deep muscular tension in the abdomen, pelvic, and lumbar area. Participants will learn how to apply a soft approach to deep work as well as stretches and active/passive release techniques meant to establish the pelvis as a resilient structure for weight-bearing and balanced movement. Self-care activities and somatic awareness will help us gain an inner sense of the body/ mind connection and ways in which to restore and maintain energetic and structural balance in this principal area.
