At Still Point Wellness, we offer massage, floatation therapy, and other restorative services. However, the deeper experience we offer isn’t limited to a session or a treatment room. The “still point” is a place you can return to again and again. It lives in your body. It can be accessed in silence, through touch, or in the quiet space between thoughts.
From a physiological perspective, deep rest does something extraordinary. When the nervous system feels safe enough to settle, it shifts out of sympathetic activation (fight or flight) and into a parasympathetic state. This is where healing becomes possible. Heart rate and blood pressure begin to lower. Breathing slows. Muscular tension eases. Studies have shown that in environments like floatation chambers, participants often reach this state within minutes, and that the effects can last long after the session ends.
What we hear from clients is something that lives beyond measurement: a feeling of coming home to themselves. A quiet inner knowing. Relief. Clarity. Peace. A moment when nothing needs to be fixed.
That’s what we mean by Still Point: a return to a place within yourself that is steady, quiet, and whole. It may arrive during an Esalen® massage when long integrative strokes calm the entire system. It may emerge in the weightless silence of a float. Or it may come while lying still on your living room floor, hand on your heart, eyes closed.
Still Point is a principle, a reminder that even in the middle of stress, grief, uncertainty or pain, there is a space of deep safety available to us. A space where wisdom resides. A place inside that says; you are okay. You are already enough.
